Collaborative Discourse

By explaining their thinking and asking questions of each other in our small group sessions, students deepen their understanding of the mathematical relationships within problems. Students use diagrams and equations to make their thinking visible to their peers. Moving back and forth between the context of the problem and their symbolic representation of it, students discuss how their work makes sense.
